# Shared collections

A collection is a named set of saved Try it requests for one project, shared by its members. Each saved request holds what the form sends for one operation: the server, its variables, the parameters and the body. It never holds a credential: see [Secrets](secrets).

## Who can do what

| Who | What |
| --- | --- |
| Owners, admins and editors | Create collections, save and reorder requests, rename and delete them. |
| Owners and admins | Publish a collection to readers, or take it back to members only. |
| Viewers | Read every collection and load its requests into Try it. |

Collections come with Pro and up. How many a project has, how many requests each holds, the saves a day and the bytes they take depend on the plan: see [Plans and limits](../get-started/plans-and-limits#api-client).

## Saving

Create a collection in the Collections panel on the project's page. Then, in the workspace's reference, fill in a Try it form and choose **Save to a collection**. A collection can also hold variables for its requests.

## Examples for readers

A published collection shows on the public reference as Examples, in the sidebar. The reference has to be published first. Readers can load an example into Try it, or read it as `curl` with placeholders where credentials go. A change to a published collection shows on the reader's next request.

## Across versions

A saved request finds its operation in the version on show by its operationId, or else by its method and path. Parameters and a body the operation no longer has are dropped and named when it loads; nothing is written back.

## Past the plan's limits

After a downgrade, collections over the new plan's limits stay readable and exportable to members, and can be deleted to get back under. They can't be changed or published, and readers don't see them. Saving answers: "This project has more collections than its plan holds, so they’re read-only. Export or delete some, or change the plan."
