# Custom domains

On Pro and up, a docs site can also be served at a subdomain you own, such as `docs.example.com`, with the reference as a section of it. Its certificate is issued and renewed for you.

### 1. Add the domain

In the project's Docs panel, add the subdomain. It must be a subdomain: an apex domain such as `example.com` isn't supported yet. An IP address, a latitude10.tech name, or a domain already connected to another project is refused.

### 2. Add the CNAME

At your DNS provider, add the record the panel shows:

```
docs.example.com  CNAME  domains.latitude10.tech
```

Every domain points at `domains.latitude10.tech`.

### 3. Check it

Choose **Check now**. The domain is live once both its hostname and its certificate are active; until then the panel shows each one's status.

## How many

The number of custom domains per workspace depends on the plan: see [Plans and limits](../get-started/plans-and-limits#docs).

## After a downgrade

If the workspace has more domains than its new plan includes, the oldest ones keep working, and the rest are paused: the panel marks them "paused: over the plan". A paused domain is never deleted. It comes back when the plan does, or remove it yourself.

## Where this comes from

- `app/docs/_lib/site.ts`
- `app/docs/_lib/edge.ts`
- `app/workspace/[ws]/[project]/DocsPanel.tsx`
